Greening Ashwell
Improving Sustainable Biodiversity in Ashwell, Hertfordshire
Greening Ashwell is a community group committed to improving the environment of the village.
Ultimately, we aim to increase its biodiversity and reduce its carbon foot print through environmental action.
Now that we can start doing projects again, a re-launch meeting was held on 25th September 2021 with a new committee and programme of action. Look out on Facebook for regular updates.
We aim to conserve our native habitats and plant communities by helping to restore the natural features of our village. We believe, through community involvement, that it's important to improve the sustainable biodiversity of our surroundings.
Climate change is now part of our way of life. The Woodland Trust, through its BIG CLIMATE FIGHT BACK, has a target of planting 1 million trees and Greening Ashwell endorses this ethos.
We need to protect landscape features like our significant trees and native hedges. Ashwell is a green oasis in a managed agricultural landscape where wildlife thrives and every loss reduces, not only its amenity value, but the overall viability of its biodiversity.
